Scenario

Even after the carrier has been added to your user's carrier permissions by IT Support, it may still not be visible on the list of the available carriers during the quoting process.  If unsure if IT has added the carrier ot your carrier permissions, please reach out to IT Support.

Before trying either of the solutions below, ensure that you have checked the Carriers section in Applied Rating Services to see if the carrier is able to be added to your Available Carriers section (see step #4 step in either solution below).  If the carrier is still missing, the solutions below should be able to help you resolve the issue.

Before Attempting this solution, check with IT Support to review your Carrier Permissions and Brokerage Contract Codes to be sure the carrier was added/applied correctly.

This solution will usually resolve the issue to allow the carrier to be found in the list of carriers to quote from.  This is generally performed after IT has confirmed the user has the appropriate carrier permissions in ARS and has reviewed the Contract Codes to be sure they are entered for the appropriate brokerage.

  1. In Applied Rating Services (ARS), log out fully using File>Log out of ARS. Do not simply X out or close the program.

  2. Navigate tote Windows Start menu/search bar.  Type in %localappdata% and click on the %localappdata% folder to open it..
  3. Locate the Applied CQ Rating Services folder and delete or rename the rs.db and rs.db.xml files.

  4. Log back into ARS.   Access the quote again or start a new quote.  After filling in the Additional Customer Information screen, click on the Carriers icon., You should now be able to see the missing carrier as an available Carrier option.  Move it over to the Selected Carriers list and click OK

  5. Perform the rest of the quote process per normal.  You may be prompted for your credentials for the carrier at which point you will need to fill them in.

Alternate Solution

This solution is similar to the one above but uses the Command Prompt shell rather than locating and renaming the files individually.

  2. Click the Start button, type CMDthen right-click the Command Prompt app that appears in the search results and choose Run as Administrator.
  3. Type the following into the Command Prompt shell.
    • cd "%localappdata%\Applied CQ Rating Services" then hit <Enter>
    • REN Ren *.* *.*.*old then hit <Enter>
    • Dir then hit <Enter>
    • The above code should have renamed two files to show as rs.db.xmlold and rs.dbold.  Confirm theses two files are showing in the window.
    • Type Exit then hit <Enter>

  4. Log back into ARS.   Access the quote again or start a new quote.  After filling in the Additional Customer Information screen, click on the Carriers icon., You should now be able to see the missing carrier as an available Carrier option.  Move it over to the Selected Carriers list and click OK.

  5. Perform the rest of the quote process per normal.  You may be prompted for your credentials for the carrier at which point you will need to fill them in.

Notes

  • Some carriers do not appear in the list of the Additional Information Screen in ARS but instead will appear on the Applied PropertyRater or Auto Rater screen when you click on the Carriers icon.  Ensure the desired company is showing in the Selected Carriers list.
  • For companies that use RateBridge, when you click on Quote in the PropertyRater / AutoRater screen, you will need to enter your credentials for the carrier there.  This is sometimes in addition to or can sometimes be instead of in the Credentials area on the Additional Information screen.
