When you first start using Epic, we highly recommend that you take a few minutes to set up your User Preferences and Views.  The Guide below will take you through the recommended settings.

Field Defaults

This section will let you set up workflows so that common fields are automatically populated correctly when you add a new policy shell, contact, or whichever workflow you choose to define.  Simply double click on the workflow and you can begin to set your preferences.

It's recommended to first become familiar with Epic before you define your workflows.  Generally, if you find a field is 80% of the time filled in with the same option, you should set up a User Field Default for it.

Commonly defined workflows for servicing staff are:

  • Client Add Workflow
  • Contact Add Workflow
  • Opportunity Add Workflow
  • Policy Add Workflow
  • Receipt for Payment Add Workflow (check with your manager to see if your franchises uses this function in Epic

For accounting staff, the following may be of interest:

  • General Ledger Workflows

Home Base - Activities

You can modify the Activities list in your Homebase using the Customize View link.  From here you can choose which activities to display and even pull in other employees' activities in your Homebase.  Speak to your manager to submit a request to support@insureline.com to allow you to view other employees' activities in your Homebase.

Understanding Search Where Filters

When Epic provides the use of Search where filters, it will do a search within a search for each criterion you use.  If you want to start a search from scratch, be sure to click Clear Filter at the righthand side of the screen.

You can see which filters are set on a view by clicking on the funnel icon.  In the Edit Filter screen, you can continue to add or remove criteria as needed.

Transactions

By default, the Transactions list view will be empty, even if there are transactions that have been posted to the account previously.  You will need to set up your view settings before you can view transactions on any account.

It is recommended to use one of the following filters depending on if you wish to see reversed transactions or not.  It is highly recommended to not set dates as your filters as we have seen many instances of transactions being inadvertently hidden in error.

.

Once you have set your desired filter on a client, click Filter Defaults.  On the Filter Defaults screen, click the Use as default and Override Existing filters for clients boxes.  This will ensure that your view will be the same on all clients you access until you change the view settings.

Attachments

By default, Epic will show the last six months of attachments.  Click the View drop down arrow to change the view to show the desired view.
